Rec Alley opened its doors in March, 2017 with a mission to improve the health and wellness of children through a structured Gymnastics program including classes across kinder gym, recreational gymnastics, levels, parkour, trickers, team gym, adults and much more. Going beyond gymnastics, Rec Alley encourages healthy living and great behaviours through designing programs that cover areas such as anti-bullying, diversity and inclusion, socialising and much more.

Today, Rec Alley registers over 1,200 gymnasts each year, runs classes seven days a week and is the winner of Gymnastics NSW Large Club of the Year 2018 award. As Rec Alley prepares for introducing additional club locations, we are putting the emphasis on a people-centred business.

About the Internship

Rec Alley is on the lookout for university students or recent graduates who are looking for some exposure and experience with a goal to work in the field of sport science, sports management and/or recreational programming. The internship is unpaid, but you will gain valuable experience working closely with Rec Alley’s owner, General Manager Brand and Business Development and the gymnastics program specialist. At Rec Alley we offer flexible arrangements and this internship can work with your availabilities.

The unpaid internship is for a period of three (3) months and will see you gain experience and an understanding of how to develop and incorporate your sports science learning into a real lift sporting program. The experience, mentoring and skills you will gain throughout this internship will aim to prepare you for a career in sports, recreation and/or program management.

Internship Duties

  • Observing and taking part in the review of the current higher levels program
  • Observing and taking part in the redevelopment of the higher levels program
  • Observing and taking part in the implementation of the new program
  • Learning and observing how new programs are evaluated and analysed

Skills and experience

  • A desire to work in sporting, recreational and/or similar organisation
  • Previous or current experience and/or education in the field of sports science or sports management
  • Working with Children Check and national police check*

*If you do not currently have these, Rec Alley can help you organise them before commencing internship duties including the reimbursement for the cost of obtaining the Working with Children Check
